Book fund
Create lifelong readers, prepare students for success, and provide reading material for adults and children through quality book collections. The books are carefully chosen to match each community’s needs and interests. Books in local indigenous languages are also purchased through the book fund: $2000
Internet fund
This fund helps pay for high-speed Internet service, allowing library users to e-mail family members abroad, tap business opportunities online, register for university classes, look for jobs, and much more: $3000
Technology fund
Every library will be inaugurated with at least five computers. To keep current the library technology centers require regular updates. The technology fund ensures that all libraries have the computer hardware, software and electronic security: $5000
Gifts in Kind
In-kind donations of books, software, furniture, construction materials, solar panels, transportation and services are critical to our success in providing the gift of ideas and literacy to people in developing countries.
Shipment fund
BBALP appreciates all book donations. It costs $.50 to ship each book to Africa. Consider making a financial donation to cover the costs of shipping the books you donate.
BBALP ships 40-foot and 20-foot sea containers of books. A 40-foot container holds approximately 22,000 books. A 20-foot container holds approximately 15,000 books. A box of books contains an average of 40 books.
It costs $9,800 to send a sea container to most major seaports of books and computers to Africa. Your donation will enable to send even more books to people in Africa who are anxious to read, hungry to learn.
If you are a transportation company or freight forwarder you might consider to make a in-kind donation for the shipment fund!!!!
Adopt a library
Establish a library within an existing school. Each of these libraries serves hundreds of students annually and includes as many as 300-1,000 local language and English language books (depending on the size of the school).
Your sponsorship will encourage the habit of reading among children by funding the creation of a child-friendly learning environment that includes: books, furniture, games, puzzles, posters, and three years of librarian training and support BBALP.
With a generous grant of $15,000 you will have the opportunity to dedicate the library you have supported. A plaque with the dedication language of your choosing will be place in the library. You will receive a completion report detailing the community we partnered with to establish the library, a description of the challenge grant and photos of the finished library, including the dedication plaque.
Your contribution could fund a full year of dynamic library programming and community outreach. Preschoolers can attend story hours, young readers can join library book clubs, teenagers can take part in competitive debate – and that’s just the beginning. Supporters who adopt a library receive a certificate of appreciation and free advertisement for their contribution.
Build a library
By donating $50,000 to build a library, you will be the guest of honor at the library’s inauguration and the library could carry the name of your choice. A press release will acknowledge your generous contribution, and you will receive a certificate of appreciation. Our web site will highlight your gift, and our web site & e-newsletter will publicize your contribution.
