YOU have the power to help to promote literacy in Africa — by learning, volunteering, speaking out and donating. Take the chance of being part of the change!
Make a difference!
Today, there are more than 770 million illiterate people in the world, over 300 million children who are not enrolled in school, and hundreds of millions more lack access to books and libraries. Ninety-eight percent of these children live in developing countries, where extreme poverty prevents them from gaining an education. As members of a global community, we must recognize that illiteracy is a major hurdle in improving the quality of life in Africa. BBALP believes in the power of education.
YOU have the power to help to promote literacy in Africa — by learning, volunteering, speaking out and donating. Your involvement with BBALP enables people in Africa to fight illiteracy by creating the possibility to have access to books and places where people can find them! BBALP forms partnerships with companies, individuals, civic groups, and organizations who wish to make a commitment to assisting those in need of literacy in the African continent.
Our goal is to partner with those who demonstrate the same qualities they bring to their professional work: excellence, commitment, innovation, energy, and new ideas.
Together we can give the gift of literacy skills to people in areas without access to a proper education. Make a difference! Call or email to discuss other ways you can volunteer with us.

Organizing Book Drives
The best way to collect books is through book drives. You can help by organizing a book drive at your school, in your home, in your local library. We welcome participation by other organizations as well.
Local language publishing fund 2030
Education in Africa requires fluency in English or French. Not everyone speaks English and/or French and there are very few books available in the local language. The objective to overcome this problem would be to create a Local Language Publishing Fund in order to provide the community with materials that will inspire them to read, expand their minds, and develop a lifelong love for reading and learning.
BBALP provides poor communities with a priceless commodity: Information!
BBALP plans to work towards creating a fund in order to help communities to preserve oral tradition by publishing books in local languages. This is a very ambitious plan, in which we are asking you to help us achieve!
